This Syrah has expressive aromas of blackberry, cassis, black pepper and smoke. The dark fruit flavours are ripe and concetrated on the palate, which is complemented by a distinct smoky character and underlying notes of thyme and clove. The palate is rich and full-bodied with outstanding texture and structure resulting in an ageworthy red to cellar for years to come.
Syrah is the perfect pairing with a variety of rich dishes. Pair with grilled steak, barbeque and smoked meats and braised dishes such as lamb shank.
2016 was a fantastic vintage for red wines – the dry, hot summer and cool fall allowed for healthy vines to produce perfectly ripe fruit for ageworthy red wines. Sourced from two blocks of Syrah vines in the Lowrey Vineyard. Hand-harvested, this Syrah spent five weeks on its skins before pressing and aged 20 months in French oak on lees before bottling in late summer 2018. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.
