2009 Pinot Noir

2009 Pinot Noir

Medium red in color with aromas of vibrant red and black fruit – cranberry, cherry and raspberry, violet, beetroot, and toasted oak. Fresh on the palate, midweight structure with a long flavorful finish.

Hand-picked from two separate vineyard plots of Pinot Noir which kept separate in the winery until final blending. The destemmed grapes were cold soaked for up to 5 days prior to being allowed to warm up and begin fermentation. During the second day, a 10% volume was bled off the skins for our 2009 Rosé. Following a total maceration time of 17-21 days the lots were gently pressed off and racked into barrel, where malo-lactic fermentation took place. After aging eight months in premium French oak on their lees, the Pinot Noir barrels that we felt best expressed the 2009 vintage were chosen for this wine. They were blended together in tank, and returned to barrel for another 6 months, then bottled. The final blend is a mixture of two vineyard blocks: clone 115 (67%) and clone 777 (33%), each of which showed marked differences prior to blending. Bottled under screwcap, with no fining and minimal filtration.
