Ripe fruit of cherry and raspberry on the nose, accompanied by black licorice, leather, and delicate violet aromatics. Spicy cedar and red fruit flavours on the palate, with ripe tannins and a well-structured, lengthy finish.
Our Jack Rabbit Flats Vineyard was selected for this wine – the Pinot noir vines that were chosen consist of clones 777 and 115. Thinning and meticulous leaf removal in the vineyard combined with exceptional vintage conditions allowed the fruit to develop concentrated flavours. After a short cold soak the grapes were fermented with gentle maceration and pressed off with lees into barrel. Aged for nine months in exclusively French oak barrels; a combination of small 225L barriques and 500L puncheons. Barrels selected for this wine consisted of 5% new oak, 45% second-fill barrels, and 50% third-fill barrels, allowing the wine to develop in barrel without being overpowered by oak flavours.

“This vineyard lies midway between the escarpment and Lake Ontario. It has an exceptional nose of plum, sweet cherry, spice and forest floor (loam). The fruit is intense on the palate with full-bore red fruits, smoke, vanilla and scorched earth notes. A wonderful wine for "pinot-philes" and a fine example of this wonderful 2007 vintage.” – Rick Vansickle, The Standard
