2008 Unoaked Chardonnay Reviewed by winecurrent.com

May 29, 2010

Our 2008 Unoaked Chardonnay was just released in Vintages outlets and earned four and a half stars out of five from winecurrent.com. "Well paced, well made and well priced - it gained its final half star on value. There are aromas and flavours galore with ripe Bosc pear, lemon-lime citrus and an underlying sense of slate and earthy tones. Midweight and nicely textured, it keeps its focus throughout the crisp and refreshing finish. Sip on its own or pair with linguine con vongole." – Vic Harradine, winecurrent.com

90 Rating From Toronto Star for our 2008 Unoaked Chardonnay

The Toronto Star's Gord Stimmell rates our 2008 Unoaked Chardonnay a 90! "Unwooded chardonnays can sometimes be sour, but this is delicious. Aromas of apple, peach and lime are inviting, and the flavours show mellow pear, peach and stonefruit. The finish is zesty and vibrant." Now available in LCBO stores or order online now.

Globe & Mail Reviews Fielding’s 2008 Pinot Gris

January 8, 2010

“If you don't mind a bit of sweetness in your white wine, you may enjoy Fielding Estate Pinot Gris 2008 ($18.95, No. 78519), an Alsatian-style offering from Niagara and available only in Ontario. Off-dry and slightly soft, it offers flavours of ripe pear, apple and citrus. A good match for pork and highly spiced Indian cuisine.” – Beppi Crosariol, The Globe and Mail

Fielding is ‘Outstanding in the Field’

August 13, 2009

Fielding was proud to be part of this special event! “We are in the middle of a farmer’s field near Bradford, Ontario, but it looks like a five-star restaurant. Jim Denevan has brought his roving dinner series, Outstanding in the Field, here for one night only. The itinerant anti-restaurant takes locavore lust to the next level by staging dinners at the food source, this time with a little help from Cowbell chef Mark Cutrara, the owners of Dingo Farms (Dennis and Denise Harrison, who provide  the aforementioned field) and 90 guests—growers and urbanites, who each paid $200 for their seats.” Click here to read more.

SpotlightToronto.com Reviews Fielding at Fiesta Buckhorn

July 28, 2009

“Fielding Estate’s booth was one of the most jovial at the festival. It could be a combination of wonderful personalities and the blockbuster wines. Nothing could have been more idyllic for the event than the Stainless steel fermented 2007 Pinot Gris ($18).  Gives me another reason to visit their gorgeous establishment.” Click here to read full review of this event!

John Szabo on Our Exclusive New 'Friends of FEW' Wine Club Release

July 22, 2009

“As Richie Roberts, Winemaker explains “The concept behind this project was to create an exceptional wine in extremely limited quantities – a production so limited that we could offer just one or two bottles a year to our most loyal friends. Occasionally in our cellar we have a barrel or two of wines that are so interesting it would be a shame to lose them in a larger blend, so this is an ideal fit for wines that are truly the winemaker’s selection.” Click here to read more.

2007 Red Conception Rated 5 Stars by Ontario Wine Review

June 2, 2009

“…But seriously, this wine has some serious-chops (and might even pair well with chops), the nose is a hodge-podge of compatible smells: blackberry, white pepper, spices, black and red cherries, vanilla and cinnamon, and yet I feel there’s more in there waiting to come out over time. The taste is the same, showing some blackberries and cherries, loads of spice, minerals, good acidity with a chalky tannin backbone.” Click here to read full review.

2006 Meritage Makes Toronto Life’s List of Best Reds

July 1, 2009

“Fielding builds generous flavours into light, vibrant wines. This blend of cab sauvignon and merlot combines toasty, smoky, earthy and herbal flavours with currants and raspberry. Elegant, with fine tannin and a long finish. Best 2010 to 2014.” Click here to read article. Order our 2006 Meritage online.

2007 Riesling Reserve Receives 4.5 Stars from Vines Magazine

April 12, 2009

“Produced from a block of Riesling vines located on the Fielding winery site, this remarkable wine is already showing serious class and depth of fruit. The concentrated citrus flavour and slightly oily texture is beautifully balanced by a refreshing wave of acidity. The personality of this slightly off-dry white is definitely less serious than Fielding’s 2006 Riesling Reserve — it has the potential to please the masses while also bowling over card-carrying Riesling connoisseurs. 100 cases.” – Vines Magazine

2007 Riesling Wins Gold at 2008 Canadian Wine Awards

December 1, 2008

It’s nice to know that our hard work has not gone unnoticed! We’re proud to announce that our 2007 Riesling took a Gold Medal in Wine Access’ 2008 Canadian Wine Awards. “This delicious model of Riesling gets the balance right. There's a nice push - pull tension between the sweet and sour flavors. The slightly off-dry character makes it all the more inviting.” - Chris Waters, Vines Magazine.

Winemaker Richie Roberts Featured in Vines Magazine

November 1, 2008

“In Niagara we get a ton of vintage variation — one year can be remarkably different from the next, which I think is a little bit different from other wine growing regions in the world,” he says. “It’s not necessarily a bad thing. It is a challenge, but we’re up to the challenge. We’re going to do our best.” Read Vines article here .
